Youth Department
Background
The youth ministry began in 1978 when young people from various churches in central and southern Malawi gathered together. It was officially recognized by delegates during the organization's Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 1982. The department now has its own structure at all levels within BACOMA, including the national, regional, association, and church levels. Membership of the department include all Baptist young people aged from 12 to 40 year whether married or unmarried.

Empowering the youth in Malawi and beyond to be dependable members of the mother church, BACOMA, by actively spreading the gospel based on biblical scriptures.

Objectives of the department in BACOMA
- Promoting fellowship among Christian youth
- To make Jesus Christ known as the savior and Lord of all
- Fostering individual spiritual growth through prayer, witnessing, worship, discipleship, fellowship and ministering to one another
- To create role models in areas of characters, education, marriage and leadership
- To Provide educational and career guidance to the youth
- To provide charitable services to the needy
- Promoting Integrity, transparency and accountability at all levels
Ministries under Youth
The department has five well-established ministries that promote the achievement of its vision. These ministries include:
- Baptist Union of Students
- This ministry focuses on supporting youth at all educational levels, including tertiary, secondary, and primary. It aims to motivate and encourage students to grow strong spiritually despite challenges and pressures, as well as to perform well academically
- Baptist Young Couples
- This ministry focuses on supporting married young people by teaching principles for healthy and God-fearing families. It also aims to mentor, guide, and encourage unmarried youth to follow the right steps at the appropriate time when considering marriage.
- Baptist Young Ambassadors
- This ministry focuses on young men aged 15 to 35. It trains them to be the hands, feet, and voice of the church. These young men are guided and mentored by the men's department (fellowship). It aims at shaping them to be reliable leaders of the church.
- Baptist Young Ladies
- This ministry focuses on young women aged 17 to 35. These young women are guided and mentored by the women's department, Umodzi wa Amayi, with the aim of shaping them to become exemplary members of the women's department.
- Baptist Sports ministries
- This ministry focuses reaching out to the lost souls through sporting activities.
